Smoke
Ruling Out the Conventional

Cigarette smoke travels on the air currents, and it usually appears as tight swirls. It does not cover a large area, with sweeping form, since it easily diffuses in the air. If you see tight, confined swirls, immediately suspect smoke. Otherwise, you may have a ghostly mist. Of course, smoking at the scene of a paranormal investigation is always taboo.
